Manahawkin, an unincorporated community within Stafford Township in Ocean County, New Jersey, serves as the gateway to Long Beach Island via Route 72. As of 2025, it has a population of approximately 2,170 residents. The name "Manahawkin" is believed to derive from a Lenape word meaning "land of good corn," reflecting its agricultural roots. Historically, the area was notable for industries such as charcoal production and bog iron mining, which thrived until the 1830s when they declined due to the rise of anthracite coal and iron ore. Today, Manahawkin offers attractions like Manahawkin Lake Park and the Mainland Adventure Park, providing recreational opportunities for both residents and visitors. ​
